My Favourite Place in Mozambique
About two weeks ago the kids and I tagged along with Jair to Vilancoulos. He had to go for work, and we did not want to pass up the opportunity to visit our favourite place in Mozambique.
It is a good 10 hour trip on a not so great road. But it's oh so worth it!
The kids loved to play on the beach and wet their feet in the warm water. The beaches up North are so beautiful. Fine white sand, complimenting the crystal clear bluest of blue water. Not even to speak of the spectacular sunrises over the calm waters.
On the Sabbath our friend from Brazil, Elmer, came to spend the day with us. He was working in the nearby town of Massinga. (He works for Maranatha. They are building churches and schools for the local people.) We really enjoyed having him spend some time with us.
We visited one of the local churches. A beautiful little bamboo building. Bella was a little overwhelm ed by the attention at first. But eventually warmed up to the little kids wanting to look at her. Not often that they get to see a European in their church.
Bella discovered that one of the dogs on the property where we stayed, had had two little puppies. So cute!! And of coarse Bella and the puppies where inseparable. She carried them around everywhere, gave them food, gave them milk and made sure none of the other dogs came near their food. She was desperate to bring one of, if not both, of them home. And we where so sad to have to leave them behind. But, reality is a ... She had to settle for Zoe.
We where only there for 2 days, but really enjoyed this little slice of heaven. Have a look at all the photo s.
Hopefully we will get to go again soon...
