shots and screaming...
So last Thursday I took the kids to have some vaccine shots done. I did warn them before hand, but promised to take them to Swensens for ice cream after. Joshua, well he does not really take note of these things, and Bella was okey with the promise of ice cream after.
So off to the doctor we go. Please note, I went on my own with the kids......
So we get to the doctors office...everything is still fine at this point. Also, just a side note, I did not mention how many shots they would get...
So the doctor starts looking over their charts, and says that living in another country, they should also get Hep A shot. So in addition to the Japanese Ensephilitis and Chicken pox shots, they would now also get the Hep A shot. Now, this is where the problems started... Isabella thought she was there for one shot, now she realised she would get THREE!
So the doctor suggest we come back for the Hep A. Oh no, I was not about to go back again, no doc, give all three. You see, the problem with a daughter who's ears don't miss a thing...she understands what was about to happen. So she starts to cry, saying she does not want three shots, only one. Even the promise of an extra ball of ice cream did not help. She was working herself up and crying more and getting a bit hysterical. But what had to be done, had to be done. So I put her on my lap, turned her face away and just hugged her tight. And it was all over in a flash - but not without screaming (at the top of her lungs) and lots of crying. Okey, all over. BUT, Joshua was still left.
Now by this time, Joshua had realised that something VERY unpleasant was happening. So when I went to get him he started running away...hehehe...oh goodness! I had to pick him up, he was kicking and screaming... They eventually had to get a second nurse to come help hold him down. Well same thing, over in a flash, but with lots of crying and screaming... Luckily they just do it and get it over with. But I had two very unhappy children on my hands. The doctor gave them each a lollypop, but Joshua refused to take it - out of principle...hehehe...
So we get the charts signed and we finally get to leave. Well, as I am leaving the office, the mothers who where sitting outside waiting for their turn all just smile at me...and they are all there with little babies...I think the babies are probably easier...
So off to Swensens we go...two big ice creams later, I again had two happy children...Nothing ice cream can't fix...hehehe...
