Home is...?

I had a bit of a inside look at the workings of a Third Culture Kids a few days ago...

Isabella and I where having a conversation about us living overseas. She was mentioning a few things that she misses. One being Grandma. So I said well maybe one day we will move home again. Upon which she said, with a surprised sound, 'back to Mozambique?'

Well, I was stunned to silence for a second. And then it hit, my daughter considers Mozambique as her 'home'. She has never lived in South Africa, only visited Grandparents... Mozambique is where she was born, where she grew up for the first 4 years of her life. That is all she knows as home...

This is the workings of a Third Culture Kid...I pray that the Lord will lead me to understand what is going on in their little minds, and help them through it...
