Mixed bag

So, to save time, I am going to throw a couple of posts about Thailand together.

We will call this the Thia mixed bag.

Here goes...

We will start with our plane trip over. Not very eventful. By the grace of God, all went well. Not a word said about our excess luggage, thank you kind sir! Only thing was that Bella thought that her Grand mother was going on the flight with us. So when she realised that we where going without her, she was devastated. She cried and cried and cried... My heart broke for her. But her Ouma will be visiting very soon. We are very glad about that. Just hope she survives the heat!
Bella talking to her Ouma just before taking off to Bangkok
Checking out what's on TV
Joshua loving the sunglasses that came in the kiddy bag
Bangkok sunset from the plane window. The photo did not do it justice.

We where shopping and came across this Banana Festival. All those stalls sells bananas in different forms. Fried, dried ect ect ect. Was quite something to behold.

The cousin of the litchi...the one who forgot to have a haircut... I still prefer the litchi I know from South Africa. Sweeter and juicier.

Bella and Josh in their new towels, out by the pool

Joshua enjoying his chocolate mousse...

Us enjoying the view of Bangkok city from the 61st floor of the Banyon Tree Hotel. Check out more photos from an earlier post.

The litchi juice here is pink, not white. Still very nice.

Some mall decorations for Christmas. The decorations, both inside and outside, the mall here are spectacular! For a country that has about 1% Christians, they go to a lot of trouble with Christmas decorations. This one below is still nothing. The town just lights up at night with lights of decorations. I will try to take some more photos and post later.

This beautiful flower arrangement was given to us to welcome us at the Mission. It is really done very skilfully. It is a very common item to see sold around town. Mostly people place it at the Budha shrines around town. They also hang it in the car on the rear view mirror. I think it is of Budhist origin. I will still find out the exact meaning and blog later.

For now...this is about it...

Hi Hanlie, nice to have a short virtual trip with you to Bangkok (can you imagine, I had to think hard to write Bangkok correctly!:)). Hope Bella and Joshua will make new friends soon, and you'll find nice places to hang out (preferrably with sidewalks:)). Keep us posted! We are off to Swaziland tomorrow morning, and are all looking forward to it... completely exhauseted now and in need of Tv and PC free vacation:). Just the horses and the meadows:). But for now, wishing you all a very happy Xmas!! And many kisses to the kids!
Love,
Lana
